Lubricants here span water-based, silicone-based, and hybrid formulas, plus narrower types built for one specific purpose like
anal play or
desensitizing. A large share also doubles as
massage oil, since many formulas are marketed for both uses at once.
Water-Based vs. Silicone vs. Hybrid
Water-based is the safest default with every toy material and washes out easily, but needs reapplying more often. Silicone lasts longer and feels slicker but degrades silicone toys over time, check your toy's material first. Hybrid formulas split the difference, most of the lube here is still water-based by a wide margin.
Reading the Purpose on the Label
Anal-specific, desensitizing, and warming formulas aren't interchangeable, each is built for a different kind of session. Check the label for what it's actually formulated to do before assuming any lube works for any purpose.
Lube and Condoms Together
Oil-based lube breaks down latex condoms, so stick to water-based or silicone-based if you're using
condoms at the same time. This matters more than most people realize until it's already a problem.
